A brief report from the Conservancy
Despite the wind this week, Zinkwazi is a-burst with the joy of Spring. Driving into the village you’ll have noticed the magnificent trees in their fresh spring foliage. I commend the Zbrra committee on their upgrade of the village – the entrance is where it is most evident.
Thanks to you members for the funds you’ve contributed through your subs of R150 per month. You made this possible. When asked, newcomers often remark that it is the natural environment that drew them to Zinkwazi.
Unfortunately, the reality is that 70% of our residents pay nothing towards this. How much more could we do if everyone contributed. Monthly Zbrra subs = a gardener for one day a month – the fag of supervision. THAT IS ALL!

Please keep Council verges clear of shrubs to facilitate safe passage for pedestrians. Zinkwazi people love walking.
Tips for the end of winter in Kzn
- Cut down shrubs for fresh re-growth. Plant top cuttings.
- Top dress lawns with compost/lawn dressing – available from Living Earth at Umhlali.
- Put lots of compost into plant beds – we live on sand dunes here.
- Plant seedlings and cuttings of trees/shrubs now – they will grow easily.
This Plumbago was cut to the ground two months ago. Notice the healthy regrowth!
